A while ago, I have added nine new skins that I had downloaded from the Invision Community Boards.
There aren't a lot of good skins and the ones that are good are skins that I would have to pay for. I'm not going to pay for skins that we could
probably make ourselves. Unli, Lovebeat, Karuto and I are probably going to make a skin for Yin Yang Anime from scratch. I do apologize for those who wanted brighter skins, but it seems that a larger population of those who make Invision Power Board skins are more attracted to darker skins.
Some of them don't have a logo at the moment which I can easily change myself. If you wish to contribute to Yin Yang Anime, you are more than welcome to!
I have finally put up the
YYA Buttons thread so that if you wish to contribute to the forums by submitting affiliate buttons, you are also more than welcome and it will be
greatly appreciated.
The
Terms of Service has been updated to where you have to agree to them to use the forums. The application should have at least prompted you to do so before you can use the boards. If none of you were prompted to, give me a private message and I'll figure it out.
While the Terms of Service was updated, I also put some time to modify the
Board Guidelines. The guidelines are entirely different because they are the rules you must follow if you wish to stay as a member of the forums. If you haven't read them already, I highly suggest that you do so right now.
The donations can be found once you click on the "forums" button on the row of buttons showing "Forums," "Members," "Gallery," and etc. Once you click Forums, you should see the Donation hook on the right hand side. It shows a graphical bar on how much money the forums have received in donations towards our yearly goal. Don't feel the need to donate right now since the renewal isn't till for a while still. Nevertheless, if you feel the need to give Yin Yang ANime some money, you are more than welcome to and you will be rewarded
graciously.
Alright, here is some new information for you to know about how to use the new board.
If you look on top of the post box, you will see
Other styles,
Fonts, and
Sizes. Have you ever wondered what
Other styles had in there? Well there are plenty of great formatting options in
Other styles that you can use to your potential!
Just remember that these options though are not very useful and have been deemed by me as unnecessary:
- Post Snapback
- Extract Blog Entry
- Blog Link
- Blog Entry Link
- Optional
The blog options would have only worked if I have a blog system in the forums. Otherwise, they are all not useful to use.
The Topic Link is very straight forward. If you know the topic number of the thread (shown in the URL address box right after "topic/"), then all you have to do is put that number in the Topic ID and you can put any kind of description. It's another way of doing URL redirects, but it's there for you to use. Here's an example.
Arifureta's Art Dump!
The post link is practically the same. To find the Post ID, all you have to do is click on the post number on the top right hand corner of the post and once you have done so, a box should appear giving you the link. Skip all the way to the end to where you will find a number. The number at the very end is the post ID number. Here's an example using that.
What is Gandizzl currently watching?
YYA also has an acronym bb code which is kind of cool but probably won't be used often. If you hover over the word YYA, you should see a small little box telling you what the YYA acronym stands for.
The horizontal rule is what I just used earlier to separate the updates from how to use the boards.
Everything that has to do with code is pretty straight forward. Those bb codes are specifically used when sharing specific kinds of code (and each of them are already categorized) which makes it a bit easier to read and see the format of the codes.
The Member code allows you to make a mini reference to a certain member such as
Twila. All you have to do is click on the name and voila! I would have to say that this little feature is probably the coolest out of all the new bb codes that IPB 3.0.x got.
Lastly, if you noticed, you as a member have a total global upload quota. What this means is that out of all the files that you attach, you can not exceed the size amount that you have been given. As of now, members have a global upload quota of 512000 kilobytes (that is approximately 500 megabytes). If you donate 20 dollars (or lower) or have posted 500 posts, you will become a platinum member and will then have a new global upload quota of 204800 kilobytes (which should be approximately around 2 gigabytes). If you donate (a total of) 21+ dollars or post 1100 posts, you will then become promoted to Ultimate Member giving you an unlimited global upload quota.
If you're sick and tired of uploading one thing at a time, there is a way around that.
If you go to your
User CP and scroll down to Posting Settings, there should be two options. Check off the box next to "Enable flash uploader?". Once you have done that, not only will you be able to attach more than one file at once (to do so, hold the ctrl button and click on the files you want to upload), you will see a bar showing you how much it has uploaded.
That's it for now, and I will continue to do some more research, look for more skins, make skins, and edit a few things around Yin Yang Anime. Until then.
